Amended Criteria for Award of Fellowships by the Sri Lanka College of Paediatricians
Eligibility
The candidate should fulfil all five (05) mandatory criteria and at least three (03) out of eight additional criteria to be eligible for the Fellowship of the SLCP.
Mandatory Criteria
- Full Membership of the Sri Lanka College of Paediatricians (SLCP) for a minimum of 15 years
- A minimum of 15 years’ experience after obtaining MD (Paediatrics) OR any other MD related to Paediatrics from the Postgraduate Institute of Medicine (PGIM), University of Colombo
- Board Certified as a Specialist in Paediatrics, Paediatric Subspeciality OR a speciality directly related to Paediatrics at the PGIM, University of Colombo
- Trainer in a recognised local or international Postgraduate Training Programme in Paediatrics, a Paediatric Subspeciality OR a speciality directly related to Paediatrics
- Maintains professional good standing without being convicted by a court of law in any country OR found guilty for professional or ethical misconduct by any regulatory body as deemed by the Council of the SLCP
Additional Criteria
- Attended at least four (4) Annual Congresses of the SLCP after Board Certification as a specialist
- Resource Person of an Annual Congress or Regional Academic Session of the SLCP in at least three (3) occasions
- Organiser of an Annual Congress or a Regional Academic Session of the SLCP
- Office bearer or a Council member of the SLCP
- SLCP nominee or representative at an International Paediatric Conference or Event
- Author of at least three (3) Original Research Articles in a journal indexed in Science Citation Index, Science Citation Index Expanded, PubMed or Scopus
- Examiner in MD Paediatrics Examination (MD Part II) of the PGIM, University of Colombo
- Service as a Consultant Paediatrician for more than 10 years in a non-Teaching Hospital
Application and Selection Process
- Applications will be invited annually by an advertisement on the SLCP website and an open email communication to all members of SLCP
- Prospective applicants shall send their applications to the Secretary of the SLCP before the closing date of the applications as stipulated in the advertisement
- Applications should include
- A covering letter
- The full curriculum vitae (CV) of the applicant
- Supporting documentation as evidence of fulfilling the criteria for fellowship
- A certificate of good standing from the SLMC or the regulatory body of the country where the applicant is domiciled
- Endorsement by two Fellows of the SLCP as proposer and seconder
- All applications will be reviewed by a Fellowship Committee appointed by the Council of the SLCP
- The Fellowship Committee shall consist of the Incumbent President and two (2) Fellows of the SLCP
- The decision of the Fellowship Committee should be approved by the Council of the SLCP
- The decision of the Council of the SLCP will be final
