“Feed a Child” Programme
Sri Lanka College of Paediatricians (SLCP), in collaboration with the Family Health Bureau (FHB) and Sri Lanka Red Cross Society, has launched a food donation program for under-5 children with severe malnutrition among vulnerable communities.
To Whom You are Donating?
Children with severe undernutrition will be selected from disadvantaged families by the medical officer of health or public health midwife. They will be provided with food pack with dry rations every two weeks for six months. The donations by SLCP will be transferred to the identified retailer for food packs. The Red Cross Society Sri Lanka will deliver the food packs from the retailer to the beneficiaries. The “Feed a child” program will be started in the Nuwara Eliya district where the malnutrition rate is considerably high.
You Can Decide How Much Donate
What would the pack contain?
The pack would contain healthy food items such as grains, pulses, eggs, milk (for children above 3 years), semolina, rice flakes, sago, dried sprats, dried shrimp kunisso, soya meat, coconut, coconut oil.
Who is accountable?
Growth of these children will be monitored, and records will be maintained in an online database with the support of the Family Heath bureau. The whole process will be transparent, and accounts will be audited.
