Namaste

Neurodevelopment and Autism in South Asia: Treatment and Evidence (NAMASTE) is an implementation research project that aims to carry out and evaluate a new integrated detection and care pathway for young children with autism and their families in India, Sri Lanka and Nepal. Dr. Dilini Vipulaguna, Consultant Community Paediatrician, and Dr. Asiri Hewamalage, Consultant Community Physician are the Sri Lankan primary investigators, and the project is undertaken with the Sri Lanka College of Paediatricians and the Ministry of Health. The project aims to train non-specialist workforce to identify children with a high probability of developing autism, support the families, offer interventions that can help the parents support and communicate with these children more effectively, and improve community engagement and involvement to promote advocacy and inclusion.
